My first steps on the internet
It was 1997; back then, ISDN connections were still the norm. Windows 95 was also the latest version. Google didn’t exist yet. Most PCs had white cases. CRT monitors were still the standard, and printing documents was still a big deal. The 3.5-inch floppy disk was also still in use. CD-ROMs were essential. CD burners were added later.
In 1997, the time had finally come for me. We had an internet connection at home. Back then, I first got an email address using my real name, and once I had that, I secured the domain shopping.com. I was 16 years old at the time.
Shortly after I registered the domain shopping.com, an Israeli businessman contacted me because he wanted the domain. At first, I didn’t want to give it up.
I ended up transferring the domain shopping.com for free and sent the new owner an email telling him to get back in touch with me once he had become rich from shopping.com.
In 2005, shopping.com was sold to eBay for approximately $635 million. My share of this, including interest and compound interest, amounted to approximately $235 million in 2012.
Since I already had the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad breathing down my neck at the time, and since letters were also withheld from me, my share of the sale of shopping.com to eBay ended up, without my signature, in a dubious manner at Yad Vashem in Israel.
It is noteworthy that, according to Ki, I am thus referred to as an Internet pioneer.
